Celebrating our 50th anniversary

On December 2, 2008, Tom and I flew to Miami. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary.
We were getting ready to embark on the Carnival Liberty Cruise Ship. We were in Miami four nights before the cruise. Following are some pictures we took when we stayed in Miami.

Key West Florida. We enjoyed seeing the styles of different homes.

Banyan Tree

South Beach, Florida. This town is being restored back to the way it was years ago. We believe only the influent can afford to stay here. We did a lot of walking here. This shopping district took up many blocks of stores and restaurants. The beach. The first time we were there, it was windy, cloudy and chilly. It was not a good day to lay on the beach. We did go back another day and Tom got in his beach time. Getting ready to board. We have never been on such a large ship. It had 12 levels and we were on the 7th one. We had a very nice cabin with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The service on board was great. Our steward came in twice a day to tidy up.Looking back at the skyline of MiamiSouth Beach. View from our cabin onboard. Carnival Liberty. Tom took this shot when we were in Port at Grand Cayman Islands. Are you wondering how we got from the ship to the shore? We were taken in shifts by a small boat.Picture of our cabin.Did I mention how great our steward was? Every night he had our bed ready. They were trained to make animals out of towels and we had a different one every night. In fact, we could have went to a class to teach us how to do it. Coming into Grand Cayman IslandPort of Cozamel. We booked a tour of the island. Actually we ended up at the beach. We had wonderful service there. All the ammenities were included. We were treated to a beautiful lunch. Tom and got in a paddle boat and paddled around the ocean. Fortunately, there was a barrier so we could not go out too far. Something really neat was a climbing wall out in the ocean not far from the beach. You had to swim out to it. There was also a trampoline in the ocean. Fun! We were glad that we didn't have to use these lifeboats. What was really funny was that the movie The Titantic was playing on our television. Thought that was kind of corny.

In the theater there was a live show every night.
This picture shows the theme of the theater.

Grand Cayman

We were near a site that is a Turtle Farm. We were intrigued with what the tour guide told us. At the turtle farm, they are are born to be either food or released back into the ocean. We were having lunch at an outdoor cafe. There was a little stream by the cafe. We watched this iquana crawl up on the platform. There were also turtles swimming around. We wondered why there was a lifeguard there. We soon found out because all of a sudden there was a couple in the water snorkeling and playing with the turtles.

The turtles.
